Montgomery County Community College student Candace Benson of Pottstown needs your vote to get a second chance on BET’s Sunday Best gospel-based music competition.
BET recently announced that it is asking the public to vote for a favorite past contestant from its seven seasons to compete in Season 8 starting in July 2015. Voting runs from now through April 15 at 3 p.m. To vote for Benson, CLICK HERE. She is listed with the singers for Season 7.
Last year, Benson, a 22-year-old Montgomery County Community College music major, auditioned with hundreds of hopeful singers and was one of 20 contestants selected to sing on the weekly television competition in Season 7. She made it to final round and placed second with Geoffrey Golden of Cleveland, Ohio, taking the top spot.
As a result of her performance on BET’s Sunday Best, Benson will be performing with Yolanda Adams, one of the judges, on April 19 at 7 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, West Reading, as part of the annual Berks Jazz Fest. Adams praised Benson after hearing her sing “I Won’t Go Back” and “He Heals Me” during last year’s competition.
