Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) has signed its first-ever international dual admissions transfer agreement with Dongseo University, a private university located in Busan, South Korea.
“We are pleased to provide our graduates with an excellent study abroad opportunity at Dongseo University, where they can be a part of a diverse student body that represents more than 27 countries,” said Dr. Karen A. Stout, president. “The partnership also serves as a strong cultural connection for the College’s growing population of Korean students.”
Under the agreement, MCCC students who graduate with Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.), Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) or Associate in General Studies (A.G.S.) degrees and have a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) or higher are eligible to transfer to Dongseo University in South Korea, given they fulfill specific admissions requirements.
The partnership with Dongseo marks MCCC’s 27th dual admissions transfer agreement with a four-year institution and is the first-ever agreement with an international university.
“Montgomery County Community College is committed to providing as many transfer opportunities for our students as we possibly can,” said Dr. Stout. “We’re working to expand the way our students think about transferring – to look beyond what they ever thought was possible when they enrolled at a community college.”
Founded in 1992, Dongseo University enrolls approximately 12,000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students each year, including more than 600 international students. The institution offers 53 undergraduate and 8 graduate majors, all based on the educational concepts of compassionate education, global education, information education, and industry and university co-education.
With the signing, MCCC is now part of Dongseo’s global network of academic and industrial affiliations, which includes 125 colleges and universities in 30 countries.
