Bruce Bach, Souderton, director of Athletics and Campus Recreation at Montgomery County Community College, has been named the Committee Sport Chair for Women’s Volleyball for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Region XIX.
Bach said of his new role, “This position will allow me to be more engaged within the region and hopefully begin the transition into leadership positions within the organization.”
Women’s volleyball was added as an intercollegiate sport at Montgomery County Community College in 2010. The program has been successful since the outset, under the guidance of Bach and Head Coach Misti Volpe. The team has qualified for playoffs appearances every year of competition and earned the 2011 NJCAA Region XIX Championship title. Volpe and a number of her players have earned local and regional recognition for their contributions to the sport.
“Volleyball was not a sport that I had much knowledge of growing up,” commented Bach. “However, since adding the sport to our athletic program, I have become impressed by its high skill level, competitiveness and sportsmanship.”
Bach is an alumnus of Montgomery County Community College and has been with the College for 17 years. He helped lead the reinstatement of intercollegiate athletics in 2008 and has directed the program for the past five years. Bach resides in Souderton, Pa. with his wife Monica and three sons Brandon, Jayson, and Dylan.
