It’s not too late to sign up for Montgomery County Community College’s Summer Camp programs for children, tweens and teens. The College offers a variety of programs for all ages.

For the youngest campers, the College offers a Preschool Camp for children ages 2-5 years at its nationally acclaimed Children’s Center. Two four-week consecutive camp sessions—Sessions I and II—start June 17. Extended camp hours are available for an additional fee. For more information and to register, contact Deborah Ravacon at dravacon@mc3.edu or 215-641-6618.

For children, MCCC offers a variety of sports camps, including baseball, softball and soccer. Additionally, a specialized basketball camp is available for girls and boys ages 10 to 21 years with mild to moderate learning and developmental disabilities. For tweens and teens, the College provides Teen College Camp with an array of programs, from arts and communication to computers to science and engineering fields. Programs run Monday through Friday, in half-day and full-day sessions for one to two weeks, depending on the program. Teens can learn how to create their own video games, website or robots, learn what it takes to be a pilot, actor or DJ, and express themselves through clay, digital photography and fashion design.

Additionally, MCCC is offering a selection of School Success courses to build confidence, sharpen study habits and develop new skills. Courses include Successful Study Strategies, Writing for Publishing, Be Your Own Boss, Driver Education and Babysitting certification.

These sessions provide opportunities to practice effective test-taking strategies and learn analytical approaches to boost test scores. In addition to these camps, MCCC offers a unique Bridge to College Program for students or recent graduates with high functioning autism, Asperger’s Syndrome or other special needs gain skills to successfully transition into college.

Bridge to College consists of two levels:  Bridge to College I, from July 8-Aug. 15, and Bridge to College II, from July 8-Aug. 15.

In Bridge to College I, students attend classes Monday-Thursday. The curriculum focuses on strengthening social interaction, communication and advocacy skills; developing coping strategies and emotional regulation; and learning organizational, daily living and problem-solving skills.

Bridge to College II is designed for students who are ready to initiate the college experience. Students take a three-credit class in the morning and then attend a support and enrichment class in the afternoon. During the support session, students review assignments and deadlines and discuss any concerns pertaining to class and/or the campus environment.
