Montgomery County Community College ranked third in Pennsylvania for its cumulative recycling rate of 34.85% in the 2012 RecycleMania Tournament’s Competition Division.
When compared to the 605 institutions nationally, the College is ranked 87th overall and 17th among two-year junior and community colleges. Additionally, the College is ranked 18th nationally in Waste Minimization with a score of 14.05, which is based on the pounds of municipal solid waste (both trash and recyclables) generated per person on campus.
During the eight-week competition, the College’s Central and West campuses generated a total of 39,780 pounds of recycling and averaged 4.90 pounds of recycling per person per week, based on the full-time equivalent (FTE) campus population of 8,122.
