Students Present Fall Performing Arts Showcase

by Diane VanDyke

The College’s Dance, Music and Theatre Arts programs invite the community to their Dance Performance Ensemble Fall Concert on Dec. 2 and Fall Performing Arts Showcase presentations on Dec. 5, 7 and 8 in the Science Center Theater, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell. All four performances are free of charge.

The Dance Performance Ensemble Fall Concert will be held Friday evening, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. and features eight student-choreographed works that range in style from ballet to hip hop.  The works explore light-hearted themes such as pirates and ghosts, as well as more serious ideas, such as drug addiction and breaking free from abusive relationships.

On Monday, Dec. 5, at 12:30 p.m. students will present a one-hour matinee preview of the Fall Performing Arts Showcase featuring Dance, Music and Theater selections.

The evening performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, and Thursday, Dec. 8. Each show features a different lineup of the best work by students in the music and dance departments. There will be performances by the College Choir, the Dance Ensemble, the Jazz Ensemble, the Guitar Ensemble, the Chamber Choir, Theater Arts classes and more.

The Showcase is presented at the end of every semester. For the spring semester, the Dance Performance Ensemble concert will be held Friday, April 20, at 8 p.m. and the Spring Showcase performances will be held Monday, April 23, at 12:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 26.
