Montgomery County Community College Trustee Cheryl Austin was elected as the first black female elected to the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. Her 10-year term as judge begins on Jan. 3. Read The Times Herald article.

Associate Professor of Exercise Science and Wellness Georgette Howell was elected as the president of the Victim Services of Montgomery County Board of Directors for 2011-2012.

Music Instructor Michael Kelly and his band The Grip Weeds released the new album “Under the Influence of Christmas.” The 11-song album — available in mp3, CD and high res formats —  features traditional and rock Christmas classics in the band’s “sparkling, insanely catchy psyche-pop style.” Check out the album at http://gripweeds.com.

Senior Producer and Technical Services Manager Matt Porter earned the “Mustang Spot Award” last week for his continuing video production work for all areas of the College. The Mustang Spot Award is a flexible and spontaneous way by which the College recognizes an individual or group of individuals for making a significant “above and beyond” contribution to the advancement of the College’s strategic plan.
