The College has been selected by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to deliver a “TSA Certificate of Achievement” program to TSA Transportation Security Officers and related workforce at Philadelphia International Airport.
Through the program, the College will deliver three courses to selected TSA employees: Introduction to Homeland Security, Intelligence Analysis and Security Management, and Immigration and Border Security. Offered through the College’s division of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, the courses can be applied as electives to the College’s Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Criminal Justice Science should a TSA employee choose to matriculate as a credit student.
The courses are taught at TSA’s Philadelphia headquarters, which are adjacent to the Airport complex. They are delivered in three-hour segments during 15-week semesters, and each course is worth three credits. The courses are taught by Senior Special Agent Jeffrey Tomlinson, who recently retired from a position as the FBI’s coordinator of the Delaware Valley Regional Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Montgomery County Community College is one of only 32 institutions across the country to be selected by TSA to provide this training. The College is a member of the Global Corporate College, which is contracted to work with the TSA Educational Programs and Partnerships Office to Deliver the TSA Associates Program.
