The African-American Student League (ASL) of Montgomery County Community College plans to host a free pancake breakfast for homeless veterans and struggling families of fallen troops in the Philadelphia-Montgomery County area on Saturday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House, 4108 Baltimore Ave., Philadelphia.
“Our goal is to feed the body, mind and spirit, while showing those who have served that their sacrifices are not forgotten,” said ASL President Alan Poindexter.
In addition to the breakfast, ASL will provide veterans and families with toiletries, canned food, and gently used clothing. ASL seeks donations of these items and pancake mix and related breakfast items from area schools, religious institutions, businesses and other organizations.
Anyone interested in participating or making a donation, should contact Alan Poindexter at 267-334-9048 or poindexter0188@gmail.com, Advisor Tony Davis at tdavis@mc3.edu, or Director of Student Leadership and Involvement Christopher Coia at 215-641-6579 or ccoia@mc3.edu.
