Montgomery County Community College invites the community to its Dance Performance Ensemble Spring Concert on April 20 and Spring Performing Arts Showcase performances on April 23, 25 and 26 in the Science Center Theater, Central Campus, Blue Bell. All four performances are free of charge and are open to the public.
The Dance Performance Ensemble Spring Concert will be held Friday evening, April 20, at 8 p.m. and features student-choreographed works that range in style from ballet to hip hop. The works include a variety of themes—high school prom, death of a partner, class speech day, overcoming loneliness and isolation, breaking free from a destructive relationship and football.
On Monday, April 23, at 12:30 p.m. students will present a one-hour matinee preview of the Spring Performing Arts Showcase featuring Dance, Music and Choir selections.
The evening performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, and Thursday, April 26. Each show features a different lineup of the best work by students in the music and dance departments. There will be performances by the College Choir, the Dance Ensemble, the Jazz Ensemble, the Guitar Ensemble and the Chamber Choir.
The choir will be featuring a program called, “Mozart and More,” which includes excerpts from Mozart’s “Requiem,” along with excerpts from Mendelssohn’s oratorio, “Elijah.” A feature of the program will be the premiere performance by the brand new Chamber Strings. This new ensemble will present a selection of chamber music. Additionally, they will be appearing with the choir in a performance of Mozart’s sublime, “Ave Verum Corpus.”
The Showcase is presented at the end of every semester.
